Surfing lessons in Cape Town
While there are various dedicated surf schools in Cape Town, most of the local surf shops at beginner-friendly beaches also offer surf lessons from qualified surf instructors. Weather and surf conditions permitting, you can sign up for surf lessons 7 days a week, 52 weeks of the year.
Just bring a towel, some sunblock and the surf school will take care of the rest.
What to expect in your surf lesson:
In your first surf lesson you’ll get geared up in a form-fitting wetsuit and partnered with a longboard or Mini Malibu (minimal for short).
The surf instructor will show you how to:
- paddle,
- stand up and
- ride your very first wave so you can experience surf stoke for yourself.
Most surf schools offer private one-on-one lessons or group lessons and will charge an hourly, session or daily rate.
Boards and wetsuits are usually included in the pricing of your surf lessons and instructors will swop out boards as your skills improve.
